Kardashian-approved: an Honest Review of Amangiri Resort

Amangiri Resort in Canyon Point, Utah

Amangiri Resort in Canyon Point, Utah

Last month I stayed at Amangiri to ring in my 30th birthday and I thought I’d share my honest thoughts. I called it my “bucket list” birthday because this is something that’s been on my list for years, and if you’ve looked up the price of a room, you know that it requires some serious dedication and saving to get there.

You also may have possibly seen this place casually on Kourtney Kardashian’s instagram, or through the grapevine from some other insta models. But if you haven’t, it’s basically a hidden all-inclusive spa and resort tucked away near Canyon Point, Utah.

It’s known for its minimalist gorgeous desert views, the pavilion oasis pool, and I guess, celeb sightings haha.

So did it live up to the hype??

For me, I’d say absolutely. I may be biased because I love that minimal aesthetic, but the resort was ridiculously stunning. From our room, to the walkways, to the spa amenities, it was like our own little paradise.

If you want to see a video tour and more details, you can view my vlog here.

Our Room

We booked the Desert Room Suite, and at 1,614 square feet, it’s roughly $4-5k a night. To be honest, I wanted to book one of the cheaper rooms (like the Mesa suite), but it books up soo fast. Our finances were tied up earlier this year because we were in escrow, so by the time we were able to make the reservation (which was still at least 4-5 months in advance), there was only one weekend in September available.

All-in-all, we definitely weren’t disappointed with it at alll. We had our own stunning master suite, a gorgeous bathtub (that unfortunately I didn’t get to use ): ), a courtyard patio, our own private backyard pool, and sky-gazing daybed area.

For both of us, it was definitely the nicest room we’ve ever stayed at. They even give you this special lemonade-flavored water or tea when you come in, and your room is fully stocked with drinks and snacks (non-alcoholic) that they will re-fill at your request. They also gave us two Amangiri branded water bottles to take home that I thought was a nice touch (and that I’ll probably cherish forever lol).

Amenities

When you’re there, you have full access to:

  • their Pavilion (the main pool with the big rock formation)

  • their restaurant

  • their spa

All of your food is included with the price so you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner either at the restaurant, served to you at the pool, or delivered to you at your room. I recommend dinner at the restaurant, and then breakfast on your daybed and lunch out by the pool.

For the restaurant, you can either sit facing the pool side or towards the beautiful desert views. Overall, the food was pretty good, but I have to say the breakfast was particularly amaazing. Their pancakes were so so good (which is what they’re known for) - honestly makes me want to come back for more.

The Pavilion is honestly where we spent most of our time. It’s where you go when you want to take that picture and be that girl on Instagram. But truly, it was such a nice pool and for us, luckily it wasn’t crowded at all. We probably had like 10 people out at the pool total and only 2-3 people in it at a time.

The spa we went to on the second day, because there was a bit of a wind storm (which happens frequently in that area). It worked out perfectly for us since we wanted to check it out anyways and the sauna and steam room are both inside. Again, completelyyyy empty. Maybe it was off-season. Either way, we got incredibly lucky having it all to ourselves.

The best part is that they’ll let you check in early (they can even pick you up from the airport), and they’ll let you stay past your check-out date and use their amenities/restaurant. We technically had to check out at 11 am, but they just needed to clear our room and then we were able to stay around and hang out by the pool until like 3-4 pm.

Excursions

They also have many activities you can book through them including hikes (although they offer a free one daily), workout classes, massages, and horseback riding.

My main two goals this weekend in Utah/Arizona territory was to hike Lower Antelope Canyon and live out my bachelorette dreams by going horseback riding in the canyons. We booked both of these separately from the resort, as I’m pretty sure they hike up the prices. We actually booked our 2 hr horse ride with Paria River Ranch (Brooke was so sweet), and she said her ranch does the same tours for the hotel. So we basically got the same experience for half the price. It’s about $175/person for a private tour and $150 each for a group tour.

You can book with Paria River Ranch here.

Fun fact: The Kardashians also ride their horses here - I was on Peanut, Kourtney’s horse. :)

Lower Antelope Canyon

Lower Antelope Canyon

For the canyon, we booked our tour with Ken’s Tours, which was about $60 per person for the most basic tour. When I originally planned this trip, aeons ago, Ken’s Tours was actually closed. I signed up for the waitlist and I think two months before my trip they re-opened with smaller tour groups. We ended up booking a tour for Lower Antelope, because in my opinion, the canyon is much prettier looking than Upper Canyon. Because of the smaller group size (I’m assuming due to covid), we only had about 6 people in our group at a time, which was perfectt for photos. Our tour guide was super knowledgeable as well and I think the tour lasted just over an hour or so.

You can book Ken’s tours here.

Pro tip: When you tell people in UT/AZ to take photos for you, they will automatically turn on the vivid filter. I think they assume tourists like it because it makes the rocks way more vivid, I personally hateddd it because I never use filters on my photos (I just mess with the highlights and brightness very very subtly). Just giving you a heads-up if you have an aesthetic like me because I kept having to tell them not to put the filer lol.

Reflection

On a more serious note, my fiancé and I had a conversation while we were here about what it means for us to both be here. Growing up with immigrant parents (my mom and both his parents), neither one of us thought we’d ever be able to stay at a place like this.

When we were there, not all of the guests were even utilizing the pool or the spa amenities, but for us, we were taking in this moment for all its worth.

Some of you who have known me for a while may know that I’ve been working since I was 19. I’ve always had at least 2-3 jobs at a time and I worked as a server, barista, bartender, and all of the customer service jobs you can think of. My friends used to joke that I’ve literally worked everywhere which is prettty accurate.

So to be able to get to a place where staying at a dream bucket list location like Amangiri is actually possible, that’s a huge accomplishment for me and I don’t take it for granted at all.

I feel so blessed and grateful and thankful for everything that has led me here and this stay was truly special to us. A lot of people might feel like it’s way too much to spend for one night, or that it’s foolish, but for me, it was so much more than just that. It meant a lot to me, and it was truly a memory I will always savor.

If you’re thinking of staying there yourself, I hope this was helpful ~ but feel free to reach out to me as well if you have questions x

love,
