Our intimate engagement dinner party

engagement party aesthetic

Hi friends,

It’s been a minute but I haven’t forgotten about you. Coming back to my blog always feels like returning to form. Sometimes I tear myself down a bit, and feel guilty that I never journal enough. That I don’t document enough and that one day I’ll forget everything. But then I remember I document everything all the time— in photos, in videos, even in public journal entries. I’m lucky, I just get to share all of these memories with all of you. :)

That’s why I don’t ever regretting starting a Youtube channel during the pandemic. Even though it’s not one of my main channels, it’s one of the best things I started doing: taking more videos. I feel like they’re my own personal home videos in a way.

And so with that said, I’m here to diary about my engagement experience so far. It’s been a whirlwind.

I feel like we’ve had a relatively long engagement (it’ll be almost two years before we actually tie the knot) but things have just gone by so fast. We got engaged in August, and then we took the first couple of months just to enjoy it — no planning, no stress. We went to restaurants and showed off my ring and acted like high school sweethearts to get free champagne and desserts. I was still giddy every time someone asked my about my ring (although to be honest, I still am). It was a blissful time.

I wanted to take some time before we got into the the thick of it. I was excited but also, we just bought a house and were still catching up from all of that. I’m happy we took our time.

Fast forward to a couple months later and we decided to do an engagement party. Well, my fiancé, Reggie wanted to do a big engagement party, and I wanted to do a small intimate dinner, so I think we ended up somewhere in between. That meant, asking our bridal parties and setting a date and booking a venue and caterer and etc etc.

If you can do it, I definitely recommend having one. It’s a nice way to kick off your engagement, and it’s honestly like a pre mini-wedding. All of the planning and everything that went into it made me realize that I definitely 100% need a wedding planner for the real thing. Even as virgo as I am, it’s so much work on top of your normal day job, your social life, and literally everything else you may have going on. But it was a good experience and I learned a lot. It turned out amazing, and my bridesmaids really came in clutch and helped soo much with set up and everything. It was beautiful.

We rented out a beautiful beach home in Marina Del Rey, decorated a long table with flower centerpieces and it was truly a magical, unforgettable night. The night felt like a blur and went by so fast. We hardly tried the food— I now know what they mean when they say you don’t really eat on the day of your wedding haha. But we had an amazing time with all of our friends and aesthetically it felt like my Pinterest board coming to life.

Now we still have to book our wedding planner but we are sooo close. Honestly I just can’t wait until we have a date already. In the meantime, hope you all are enjoying the journey and thanks for following along x
