How to Build a Neutral Wardrobe: Summer Vibes Edition
A lot of my friends make fun of me (often) because I consider myself a style minimalist. It doesn’t mean that I don’t wear colors, or that I’ll never wear them (I’ve actually been experimenting more with those, but more on that later!), but I just tend to lean towards an everyday uniform: neutrals.
To be honest, it started a couple years ago but I just found that off-white, and beige tones complimented my skin tone (probably because I’m tan and a warm autumn lol). From learning what compliments me, I’ve been able to build a complete wardrobe based on this color palette. Not only do I love my clothes more, but I feel like they’re more me, and I have a way easier time getting dressed.
I recently went to Palm Springs (pre COVID-19) and wore some of my favorite minimal pieces in ivory and cream from the trip. I think especially when I travel to more tropical or brighter locations, I like to mellow things out with an outfit that doesn’t stand out too much—but that’s just my personal style. :)
You can see below a couple of neutral basics I’ve invested in, and if you find a color that works for you, I’d recommend finding these pieces in your palette. I’ve listed the brand and items in the captions!
Minimal Staple Pieces to Invest In
We were on this trip for five days, but I made sure to pack light and only bring a few items that I could wear multiple times. I actually wore each piece of clothing more than once and was still able to make several outfits from only packing a few key items.
That’s why I’d highly recommend building your wardrobe instead of buying things just for one occasion or one specific outfit. When you start to have staples that you really love, everything flows easier and it’s less work for you (and less bags to pack haha).
I hope this helped! Consider me your neutral style expert haha feel free to ask me any other styling or fashion tips if they come up xx
